A man has sustained a serious head injury after being hit by a car in Coventry. It happened in Stoke earlier today (January 2).
Police were called to the junction of Grantham Street and Walsgrave Road at around 2pm. Firefighters also responded and found that a man had been struck by a car and was badly injured.
He was rushed to University Hospital Coventry. Police said the driver remained at the scene and is helping with enquiries.

Witnesses have been urged to get in touch with West Midlands Police. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers.
In a statement to CoventryLive, West Midlands Police said: “We were called to the junction of Grantham Street and Walsgrave Road shortly before 2pm today (January 2). It was after a pedestrian was hit by a car.
“He was taken to University Hospital Coventry with a serious head injury, and the driver of the car involved remained at the scene to help officers with their enquiries.
“Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit is keen to hear from anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have seen what happened. Call 101, quoting log 2368 of January 2, if you saw anything or if you have dashcam footage.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “We responded to Walsgrave Road near Gosford Green shortly before 2pm on Friday. Crews from Coventry and Binley responded, the first arriving within five minutes of being mobilised.
“One person is believed to have been conveyed to University Hospital Coventry. Grantham Street and Walsgrave Road were closed while we worked at the scene.”
