Thirteen people were injured – some seriously – in a Far North crash involving a truck and a van.
A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John said the service was notified of the incident at 7.42am and sent three ambulances, a first response unit and three helicopters to the
Eight people were transported to Kaitāia Hospital – four in a moderate condition, and four with more minor injuries.
Two of the other injured people were flown to Whangārei Hospital.
Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand also attended the scene, with two fire engines sent from Houhora.
