From 1 January this year, certificates for car insurance can be obtained in electronic format. However, this change has swiftly been appropriated by scammers sending fraudulent emails. The messages contain a link to order the certificate accompanied by a processing fee.
However, the real certificates are free of charge and can only be issued by the insurer. The ministry advised anyone receiving emails requesting payment should ignore and delete the messages.
