NEW BEDFORD — Police discovered the site of a late-night car crash in the North End was also a crime scene with gunfire and spent shells.
Police said just before midnight on Jan. 6, officers responded to the area of Hathaway Road for reports of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, police discovered shots had been fired at a vehicle.
Officers found multiple shell casings near Shawmut Avenue.
No one was reported injured.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates it was a domestic-related incident where those involved are known to each other, with no threat to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
