There has been another tragedy on Munster roads, with a man in his 40s losing his life in a two car collision on the N22 in Co Kerry.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the N22 near Dromadeesirt, north of Killarney yesterday evening. . Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a two car collision on the N22 near Dromadeesirt that occurred at approximately 6:40pm. One of the drivers, a male aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been removed to the local mortuary where a post-mortem will take place in due course.
The other driver, a male aged in his 30s, was conveyed to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at this time. No other injuries were reported. The road has been closed overnight to allow for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions on the N22 are in place at both Scart Cross and Lawlors Cross.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N22 near Dromadeesirt between 6:20pm and 6:50pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
