HAUGHTON, La. (KSLA) – Around 4:45 a.m. on Jan. 11, Louisiana State Police troopers answered a single-vehicle crash on Davis Road near Louisiana Highway 157. 36-year-old Martin Montes of Santa Fe, NM was killed in the crash.
The investigation showed that Montes was in the back seat of a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro traveling east on Davis Road. Then, the Chevrolet traveled through the intersection of Louisiana Highway 157, left the roadway, and hit a tree.
Montes did not have on her seatbelt during the crash and died at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the front seat, whose seatbelt usage is unknown, only suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
It is suspected that the driver was under the influence at the time of the accident. Toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.
At this time, the crash is still under investigation, and charges are pending.
