A person is dead after a crash in southern Harnett County near the border of Cumberland County. 
Troopers with the State Highway Patrol told the WRAL Breaking News Tracker that a gray car was speeding before it crashed at the intersection of McCartan Road and Elliott Bridge Road in Linden, which is north of Fayetteville near Anderson Creek, right around 12 p.m.

The two people in the car were not wearing seatbelts. Troopers did not provide details on their identities. 
The passenger died at the scene, and the driver jumped from the car and ran, according to the trooper. SHP could not provide any more details. WRAL News has reached out to the SHP office to learn more information.
