One person was hospitalized Monday morning in a shooting at a California Closets business in Huntington Beach that appears to have a connection to a car at the scene of a deadly police shooting in southern Los Angeles County.
Detectives responded late Monday morning to the business near Skylab Road and Springdale Street, located southwest of the 405 Freeway. A police spokesperson said the shooting does not appear to be random and that investigators do not believe there is a threat to public safety.

Evidence markers showing the location of bullet casings were placed near the side and rear entrances of the sprawling building. More markers appeared near an older model pickup.
Details about what led to the shooting were not immediately available.
Later Monday, a deadly police shooting was reported about 30 miles to the north in the southern Los Angeles County community of South Gate. Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department sources told NBC4 Investigates that the car at the scene of the South Gate shooting is the same car seen at the location of the Huntington Beach shooting.
Officers attempted a traffic stop on the car sought in an attempted murder investigation in Huntington Beach when a woman in the car displayed a handgun, authorities said. Police opened fire and the woman was transported to a hospital, where she died.
Evidence markers were placed near the sedan that was part-way in a driveway. Several law enforcement patrol SUV were near the car.
It was not immediately clear whether the woman in the car was connected to the Huntington Beach shooting.
In a statement, California Closets said the Huntington Beach shooting was at the site of the company’s Orange County location.
“We are extremely saddened by this morning’s shooting onsite at our Orange County location in Huntington Beach, CA,” the company said. “Our hearts are with those injured or otherwise impacted, and we wish them a full recovery and strength for their families and community.
“We are grateful for the swift response of local law enforcement and are doing everything we can to support them in their investigation. Currently, our primary focus is on providing support to our team members on site. Our Huntington Beach location will be closed until further notice as we allow for the investigation to take place and for our team members time to recover.
“We are grateful for the support of the community and local law enforcement during this time.”
