Images from the scene show a queue of cars in the road behind the burning motor which was left completely engulfed in fire.
The blaze appears to have stripped the car back to a bare metal frame with the intense heat reducing the rest of the vehicle to a pile of charred remains.
Video shared to social media shows thick plumes of black smoke billowing into the air over the airport terminal.
A social media user managed to capture the footage as they arrived at the airport via train.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) confirmed crews attended the scene and the car blaze was successfully extinguished.
Heathrow Airport staff are understood to have brought the flames under control shortly after the fire erupted.
There were no injuries reported amid the chaos, an airport spokesperson said.
According to the LFB the motor involved was diesel powered.

Heathrow Airport remains open with a spokesperson confirming the inferno had no impact on operations.
An LFB spokesperson said: “We were called at 0756 hrs today to a report of a car alight near Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport.
“One fire engine attended the scene but the fire had already been safely extinguished by the airport’s fire service upon their arrival.
“There were no reports of any injuries.”
A Heathrow Airport spokesperson said: “Earlier this morning our teams responded to a vehicle fire on the Terminal 5 Departures forecourt.
“The fire was extinguished quickly and there were no injuries. The airport is now operating as usual.”
The incident marks the second time a car has burst into flames at the busy airport.
Footage from October last year shows a fire burning in the terminal 3 multi-storey car park – which was evacuated and closed in the wake of a dramatic fire.
The LFB confirmed that the vehicle fire in October also involved a diesel car.
