SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Homes in Sunnyvale had to be evacuated Monday morning after a car crashed into a home and caused a natural gas line leak, according to the city's Department of Public Safety.
The crash was reported shortly after 9:20 a.m. in the 700 block of Winstead Court.
One school was asked to shelter in place due to the incident but that has since been lifted.
PG&E told ABC7 News that crews shut down gas within the hour. They say that four homes were without gas and seven homes without power. DPS updated that all residents besides those of the home that the car crashed into were able return.
Crews need to wait for the car to be removed before they can finalize repairs and restore gas and power.
People are advised to avoid the area during the emergency response.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but there were no injuries reported other than minor ones from the driver.
