Nio today announced a price adjustment for its 100kWh long-range battery packs, effective immediately. The purchase price for Nio’s 100kWh long-range battery pack, which supports both 400V and 900V platforms, has been reduced from 128,000 yuan (17,800 USD) to 108,000 yuan (15,000 USD). This represents a 20,000 yuan (2,800 USD) price cut for customers opting to buy the battery outright. The monthly service fees for Nio’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) program remain unchanged.
Adjustments to battery upgrade services:
Nio has also revised its battery upgrade services. The permanent upgrade service fee for the 100kWh battery pack has been lowered from 58,000 yuan (8,100 USD) to 38,000 yuan (5,300 USD), also a 20,000 yuan (2,800 USD) reduction. The pricing for flexible battery upgrades will remain at their current rates.
The new pricing structure and associated benefits are designed to cater to various customer segments:
The monthly rental fees for Nio’s BaaS program remain at their original standards: 728 yuan (100 USD) per month for the 75 kWh standard battery pack and 1,128 yuan (157 USD) per month for the 100kWh long-range battery pack.
Editor’s comment
The 100 kWh battery pack is primarily used in Nio vehicles (ET5&ET5T, ES6, EC6, ET7, EC7, ES8, ET9). Onvo, on the other hand, makes no use whatsoever of the 100 kWh battery (let alone the compact Firefly). Based on Nio’s latest battery buy-out prices, we can infer that the current market price for automotive power batteries is approximately 150 USD per kWh.
