TWO men have been taken to hospital after a serious collision involving a van and a car took place today (Wednesday, February 4) on Dudley Road in Lye.
The fire service, police, and ambulance were all at the scene of the collision which took place this morning at around 7.30am.
The two men, one believed to be in his 50s, did not sustain injuries believed to be serious but were taken to hospital to be assessed.
West Midlands Fire Service said: “We were alerted just before 7.35am on Wednesday (4 Feb) to reports of a road traffic collision on Dudley Road, Lye, near a petrol station.
“Two fire engines were quickly on the scene. Crews made the scene safe following a collision involving a van and a car.
“Both drivers were out of their vehicles when we arrived. The ambulance service and police were also in attendance. We understand that a man in his 50s was taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
“The road was closed for police investigations, and the council highways team were asked to attend to deal with debris and fuel on the road.
Our crews had left the scene by 8.20am.”
West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7.30am to a road traffic collision involving a car and a van on Dudley Road, Stourbridge.
“Two ambulances attended the scene.
“Upon arrival we found two men who were the drivers of the vehicles.
“Both were assessed by ambulance staff at the scene and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious.
“They were conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital for further assessment.”
