A 76-year-old Merritt Island man was killed in a head-on crash on Sykes Creek Parkway near Old Audubon Road on Tuesday, Feb. 3, Florida Highway Patrol reported.
FHP reported that the man, driving a 2003 Toyota 4-Runner, was northbound around 5:31 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve, veering into the southbound lane and into the path of a 2025 GMC Sierra. The SUV struck the front of the pickup truck, which was driven by a 30-year-old Merritt Island man
The older man, whose identity has not been released by FHP, was pronounced dead at Cape Canaveral Hospital. The driver of the pickup had minor injuries and remained on scene, FHP reported.
The crash, which temporarily shut down Sykes Creek Parkway in both directions, remains under investigation.
