Ford has promised to launch five all-new models priced under $40 (around €34) by 2030, including a mid-size electric pickup truck.
According to company executives, the electric pickup model is expected to hit the market in 2027.
The new vehicles will not be simplified versions of existing models, but new names and platforms, which will include cars, SUVs, vans and trucks with different energy technologies.
Ford also aims to make the current range more affordable through programs for new buyers and a focus on certified used vehicles.
These measures are intended to retain about 70% of Edge and Escape model customers.
With the Edge discontinued and the Escape’s future uncertain, Ford is preparing new replacements for the affordable car segment.
Details for the other four models have not yet been made public. /Telegrafi/
