(WTAQ-WLUK) — A popular Northeast Wisconsin car show submitted a new Wisconsin DMV license plate request.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) received an application from Iola Old Car Show, Inc. requesting a new specialty license plate.
The organization coordinates the Iola Car Show and Swap Meet which has been held annually for more than 50 years and serves as a fundraiser for approximately 120 non-profit, civic and community organizations.
Annual attendance of the show is around 120,000 participants and has an economic impact of more than $30 million annually. The show has issued more than $10 million in direct funding to volunteer organizations.
A $25 donation for the organization will be collected at issuance of the license plate and at the annual registration. The donation will go toward the organization’s overall charitable contributions. This annual donation will be in addition to the regular registration fees and one-time issuance fee.
The application is available for public comment through Sept. 11, 2025.
The public comment period is the first step in a process for groups interested in sponsoring an Authorized Special Group license plate. The public can review each application submitted to become a special group plate and submit an objection if they do not approve of the special group plate. The public review period is open for 30 days. All objections are passed to the legislative Transportation Committee for final decision on the plate’s status.
