Raleigh police arrested a man on Wednesday, believed to have rammed a pickup truck into a Raleigh police car over the weekend, and led officers on a chase on Wednesday.
Elmer Bautista Candela, 21, was arrested by Raleigh police. He was found in a home on Bashford Road.
Officers were called shortly before 2:30 p.m. to reports of an assault. In a news conference on Wednesday, Raleigh police Lieutenant David Davis said officers attempted to arrest Candela on Solar Drive.
Davis said once officers attempted to arrest him on Wednesday, he ran away and then stole a nearby pickup truck, starting a chase.
Police said the chase ended around Yonkers Road and Raleigh Boulevard when he crashed into another car. Officers said no one was injured during the crash, but the man ran away again.
Police said no one was injured during the arrest, and Bashford Road has reopened.
Candella is facing additional charges related to the chase and car theft filed.
