LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – One United Independent School District student will drive away with a brand-new Honda HR-V at the end of the school year through a program rewarding perfect attendance.
The Drive Sames 4 Education initiative is a partnership between UISD and Sames Auto Group. Every nine weeks, high school students with perfect attendance are entered into a drawing. Sixteen finalists are then selected to compete in the final drawing for the car.
Evelyn Sames, CEO of Sames Auto Group, said the program helps keep students motivated.
“It motivates these students to get to school every day. We understand the importance of this, and we’ve seen the successes of this program. It is such a joyous moment to award such a deserving student a brand-new vehicle at the end of the school year,” Sames said.
The car, unveiled Thursday morning, August 21, at Sames Honda during a press conference, is part of the dealership’s commitment to “driving education forward” by encouraging students to achieve perfect attendance, the auto group said.
