The long delays on the M25 come during what experts have predicted will be one of the busiest weekends on Britain's roads all year, with 17.6 million motorists expected to make getaway trips between Friday and Bank Holiday Monday.
The M25 is a motorway that is usually busy at the best of times, and is often jokingly nicknamed 'Britain's Longest Car Park' thanks to its tendency for lengthy queues and disruptions.
National Highways revealed authorities are still at the scene following the horror blaze and motorists can expect severe delays this afternoon.
The agency said: "Lanes 1 and 2 remain CLOSED for vehicle recovery and clear up works.
"There are currently delays of 60 mins and approx. 4 miles of congestion."
