A woman in her 20s died earlier at the scene of a motorbike crash with a car, police have said.
She had been travelling on the motorbike on the A403 Severn Road in South Gloucestershire on Monday at about 08:30 BST at the time of the collision.
The car driver was not hurt. Avon and Somerset Police closed the road, near Pilning, and said it would be shut for several more hours into Monday afternoon while officers investigate.
Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage showing the vehicles before the collision are being asked to speak to police.
The family of the motorcyclist have been informed, police said.
Officers have advised motorists to seek an alternative route.
