Deputies with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after a chase ended with the car crashing into the Wake Forest Reservoir late Monday.
Deputies attempted to stop of the car around 8:25 p.m. on Edgemont and Hodge roads near Wendell but said the driver did not stop and caused a chase.
Deputies said the chase ended at Wait Avenue and Traditions Grande Boulevard, when the driver lost control and crashed into the Wake Forest Reservoir.
The driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Their condition is unknown.
Deputies said charges are pending.
The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was on the scene, where officials said they could not get the car out of the reservoir on Monday night.
Crews are expected to return to the scene on Tuesday to remove the car.
The investigation is still ongoing.
