CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – New research from the Highway Loss Data Institue, has released the most stolen car in America.
The car that was at the top of the list, was the Camaro ZL1. It has been discovered that “muscle cars” are more commonly stolen due to their high horsepower.
“We do see, you know, other mainstream models that do get, you know, frequently stolen, but generally the ones that are at the top of the list tend to be these powerful, or like I said, pricey or pickups. So, kind of the three P’s,” Jay Young, Media Relations Director for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The list has also shown that the car with the least amount of theft is Tesla’s, and other electric vehicles.
Young recommends that car owners always lock their doors and park in lighted areas to prevent any possible theft.
