One of Formula 1’s Safety Cars has had an upgrade for the second part of the 2025 season.
Aston Martin has replaced its previous Vantage model, introduced last season, with a new Vantage S, offering higher performance. It is making its debut at Zandvoort for this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix.

The car manufacturer says the Vantage S can hit a top speed of 202mph (325kph), 7mph faster than its predecessor. The car can reach 62mph (100kph) from a standing start in 3.4 seconds, according to Aston Martin. It is powered by a four-litre twin-turbo V8 which produces 680ps and 800Nm of torque.
The Vantage S is fitted with the usual enhancements required by an official FIA Safety Car and also benefits from a revised rear spoiler. It is painted in the same colours as the team’s F1 cars and features more high-visibility fluorescent green details than the previous car.
“This car was destined to take on the prestigious role as an F1 Safety Car and it will be a source of great pride for our colleagues and our customers to see it leading the pack whenever it is called upon,” said Aston Martin’s global marketing director Alex Long.
“In terms of brand awareness, nothing can compete with Formula 1 and we are proud to play our part in what we believe is the greatest show on earth,” Long added. Aston Martin’s Safety Car was last deployed during the Belgian Grand Prix due to heavy ran before the start of the race.
Aston Martin became a supplier of F1’s Safety Cars in 2021, joining Mercedes, which previously enjoyed an exclusive deal. Mercedes’ Safety Car is an AMG GT Black Series. Both manufacturers also provide official Medical Cars to F1. Aston Martin uses a DBX707, while Mercedes supplies its GT 63 S 4Matic+.
