GOSHEN — Two people are dead and two are injured following a four-vehicle accident northwest of New Paris.
At 7:49 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle collision at the
intersection of CR 17 and CR 40. Upon arrival, officers discovered that four vehicles were involved in the incident. Two individuals have been confirmed deceased as a result of the collision, with two others injured.
Investigators from the sheriff’s office arrived at the scene and are currently conducting an inquiry into the cause of the incident. Preliminary reports suggest that a vehicle traveling eastbound on CR 40 disregarded the stop sign at CR 17.
The exact cause of the collision may be subject to further clarification as investigators continue to gather information. Additional details regarding those involved will not be released until notifications have been made. The sheriff’s office will provide an update as further information becomes available.
