Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized Aug. 30 after a car crash near Manchester, New Hampshire, a spokesman said.
Giuliani, 81, was transported to a trauma center in New Hampshire after being involved in a highway car accident, his head of security, Michael Ragusa, said in a post on X. Giuliani was diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebra, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg, according to Ragusa.
Giuliani’s rental car was hit from behind at high speed after he was “assisting a domestic violence victim,” Ragusa added.
“He rendered assistance and contacted 911, remaining on scene until responding officers arrived to ensure her safety,” Ragusa said in the social media post. “His business partner and medical provider were promptly contacted and arrived at the hospital to oversee his care.”
The former New York lawmaker is expected to be released from the hospital in a few days, Reuters reported.
Giuliani has worked as an attorney for President Donald Trump in his failed efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
