WORCESTER — Police are investigating a fatal car crash on King Philip Road the evening of Sunday, Aug. 31 that occurred about 9:30 p.m.
Residents of the neighborhood declined to comment on the fatal crash at the tail end of the roadway, where it becomes a narrow, one-way street.
“This never happens here,” said a woman who was enjoying the early morning quiet on her front porch Monday, Sept. 1. Another neighbor who was outside said it had been a traumatic incident for her family. She also declined to comment on the accident.
The residential street, in a working-class neighborhood of Worcester, just a block up from West Boylston Street, is lined with three-deckers and two-family homes. Lawns are manicured, flowers abound. Someone rested a small bouquet of flowers against the stone wall surrounding the property where the accident happened; absorbent material used by emergency responders to trap spilled automotive fluids was mounded next to the curb.
Police did not release further details.
