A witness said she heard tyres screeching before the sound of a “massive crash”.
“I heard a yell,” she said.
“Firefighters were giving first aid to one of the drivers before the [paramedics] arrived.
“[The driver] had a gash on her neck.”
A spokeswoman from the ACT Emergency Services Agency said one person had been taken to hospital with minor injuries, while others involved in the incident were treated at the scene.
One of the vehicles, a Kia, appears to have crashed into a garden wall on Eyre Street, while the other was seen on the nature strip across the road.
“There is a lot of damage … and that area is a 40 zone,” the witness said.
Police have closed the intersection while Transport Canberra, ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire and Rescue personnel are on scene.
The incident reportedly occurred in front of the Cusack Centre just after 3pm.
