We already know Shaq has a big heart, so when we saw he bought a young female wrestler a new car, we weren’t shocked. Still, it’s great to see the big man reach out and help the little people who are struggling through life.
Giorgio Armani’s car collection contains one oddity.
Actually, when Effortless Motors found out what Shaq was doing, because he asked them to find and deliver the car, they offered to go halfsies on the transaction.
It’s not like the two got the young college athlete a Mercedes G-Wagon or Rolls-Royce. Instead, she was gifted a new but very sensible Mitsubishi Outlander.
Firefly, who is 18 and just started college, has a fairly popular Instagram account, but she didn’t open up on there about how difficult it was to get to practices and the gym without her own vehicle now that she’s out of high school. Little did she know Shaq would be following her and decide to contact her parents to ask if she needed a sponsorship of some sort.
Little did he know Firefly had taken the summer off training so she could work and save up for a car. She was worried about having a reliable ride to get her to practice and tournaments. With how expensive things are these days, the cheap $1,000 beater just doesn’t exist anymore and new cars are crazy expensive.
As the retired professional basketball player spoke with Firefly’s dad, the need of a vehicle came out and Shaq decided he would fill that all by himself. The rest, as they say, is history.
A video showing the delivery of the Mitsubishi is emotional, with Firefly expressing her excitement and gratitude while friends and family are there to help her celebrate. Shaq called in to show his support to the young college wrestler.
