There were long delays on the A13 after a crash left a car overturned and caused an oil spillage. The incident, which took place at about 1.30pm on Wednesday (October 15) affected traffic heading westbound.
The crash happened on the road from A1089 (Tilbury / Baker Street Interchange, Baker Street) to A1012 / Stifford Clays Road (Chafford Hundred). There was also congestion to the Tilbury turn-off (Baker Street Interchange).
National Highways said that there was an overturned car and an oil spillage, which has caused closure. There were long queues of traffic as a result, which cleared shortly before 4.30pm.
An Essex Police spokesperson said no injuries were reported.
The crash on the A13 involved one vehicle, Essex Police has confirmed.
The force said no injuries were reported and the road was closed for the vehicle to be recovered.
A National Highways spokesperson said the crash involved an overturned car, which caused a large oil spillage.
"This incident is now clear, and the #A13 in #Essex is now OPEN westbound between the #A1021 and the #A126 near #Thurrock. Long delays remain in the area but should now start to ease. Thanks for your patience."

There is now congestion to the Tilbury turn off, with delays through North Stifford, Orsett and Chafford Hundred as traffic diverts.
"The A13 in Essex is closed westbound between the Stifford Interchange (West Thurrock, Lakeside Shopping Centre, Grays A1012; South Ockenden, Orsett) and the Brickbarn Wood Junction (where traffic joins from the A126).
This is due to a single car collision. The car has overturned. There is oil and debris in the road as a result of this incident.
