KG Mobility, formerly SsangYong, is developing a new midsize truck to replace the Musso and complement the Musso EV
Mid-size pickups are booming worldwide, and automakers are queuing up to take on best-sellers like the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux. Korea already has Kia in the fight with the recently unveiled Tasman, and now KG Mobility (formerly SsangYong) is pushing in as well. The company plans to spin the Musso name into a sub-brand for electric, hybrid, and combustion-powered trucks.
Fresh off the Musso EV’s debut, KGM has teased another midsize pickup with a tougher, more rugged look. The new model, codenamed Q300, is expected to replace the Rexton Sports, sold internationally as the Musso. First revealed in sketches earlier this year, it has now appeared in teaser footage.

At the front, LED headlights borrow inspiration from the Ford F-150 and BYD Shark, while a Jeep-style five-slot grille gets illuminated slats for extra drama. A chunky bumper with a wide intake adds to the rugged look.
Copy-Paste, Stretch-Job
Along the sides, the pickup carries over cladding with integrated amber indicators, similar to the KGM Musso EV, but the longer bed suggests a stretched rear overhang. The greenhouse, pillars, and roof rails appear unchanged from the current Rexton Sports. At the back, slim vertical LEDs frame a sculpted tailgate stamped with KGM lettering.
The company hasn’t shown the interior yet, but a digital cockpit and five-seat cabin are expected, judging from the double-cab body style.

The current generation of the KGM Rexton Sports / Musso was introduced in 2018, with a facelift in 2023. It rides on the same ladder frame architecture as the Rexton SUV, and is powered by non-electrified gasoline and diesel powertrains. The next iteration could use an upgraded version of the same underpinnings, while introducing a hybrid powertrain option.
Coming Soon
Based on the teaser, the full reveal could arrive within months, with a market launch set for 2026. Beyond Korea, the truck could also reach Europe, the UK, and Australia, taking on rivals like the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi L200, Nissan Navara, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, VW Amarok, Kia Tasman, GWM Cannon, and Maxus/LDV T60.
