A man died in an accident when three vehicles crashed in Kilkenny this weekend. The man, who was driving one of the cars, was killed in the collision in Co Kilkenny yesterday.
The incident occurred on the N10 at Templemartin at around 4.30 pm on Saturday evening. Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the collision, where one man in his 40s, who was the sole occupant of his vehicle, was sadly pronounced dead.
A man and woman travelling in a second car were rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The occupants of the third vehicle did not require immediate hospital treatment.
The local coroner has been notified, and a full forensic collision investigation will be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators (FCI). The N10 was closed from the junction at Exit 8 of the M9 to the Hebron Road roundabout with local diversions in place overnight.
It is the second tragic death on Irish roads this weekend alone, after the death of a motorcyclist in Galway on Friday morning. The man, who was in his 60s, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Galway after an early morning crash at Kilcooley, and sadly later died.
More than 132 people have lost their lives on Irish roads to date, with the most recent Garda figures recording to October 10.
