A man has been arrested after a 37-year-old woman died and a man suffered severe injuries following a crash involving two cars.
The crash involving two BMWs, one white and one grey, happened near Askerswell between Dorchester and Bridport at about 00:05 BST.
Dorset Police said the woman, from Bournemouth, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed. A 28-year-old man from Plymouth was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.
The force said a 35-year-old man from Poole, taken to hospital with minor injuries, had been arrested on suspicion of a driving offence.
The road was closed in both directions between the A37 Monkeys Jump Roundabout, near Dorchester, and the A3066 for Bridport until about 12:30.
Witnesses and anyone with relevant dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
