(ABC36 NEWS NOW) – New car buyers are facing serious sticker shock, as Kelley Blue Book reports that—for the first time—the average price for a new car has topped $50,000.
According to the pricing guide, buyers paid an average of about $50,080 for new vehicles in September. Rising auto tariffs, the growing popularity of luxury models, and higher costs for electric vehicles are among the main factors driving prices up.
Industry experts warn that prices could climb even higher with the arrival of 2026 model-year vehicles.
