MENTOR, Ohio (WOIO) – The “Bar Fairies” spent New Year’s celebrating those in Northeast Ohio who chose not to drink and drive by leaving gift cards on cars left parked outside Lake County bars overnight.
The Bar Fairies honor Taylor Castilyn, whose life was tragically cut short when she was just 20 years old as the passenger of a drunk driver who was fleeing police in 2017.
The mission promotes “sober driving choices, DUI prevention, and community safety — and they do it in a heartfelt, impactful way,” Mentor police shared.
Mentor officers saw the Bar Fairies in action early Thursday morning, leaving $5 Seven Brew gift cards with a card describing the organization on cars left overnight.
“It’s a simple but powerful thank-you to those who made the responsible decision to leave their car and not drive impaired,” MPD stated. “Her memory continues to inspire efforts to prevent impaired driving and save lives.”
MPD confirmed a total of 49 cards were left on cats throughout Lake County.
