Olivia Grace Edwards should have been celebrating her ninth birthday today
A SCOTS family has been left distraught after their daughter fell ill and died a day before her ninth birthday.
Olivia Grace Edwards became ill in her parents car on Saturday night and they pulled into Kingswells Park and Ride in Aberdeen to help her.

However, dad Mark, 40, and mum Georgina Edwards, 33, quickly called an ambulance to help the stricken girl and she was rushed to Royal Aberdeen’s Children’s Hospital.
Despite frantic efforts from medics, Olivia passed away soon after arriving at the hospital, leaving her family and community devastated.
Speaking on behalf of her distraught parents, Georgina’s friend Kathryn Campbell, 33, said the family still don’t know what happened to their wee girl.
She said: “It was so sudden, so unexpected.

“It would have been her ninth birthday today so it’s devastating.
“We aren’t sure what’s happened but we know she has been struggling with her asthma over the last couple of weeks, which she always does in the winter. I think it’s to do with that.
“They pulled into the park and ride because she wasn’t feeling very well and they ended up calling an ambulance.
“They took her to the children’s hospital in Aberdeen and she was pronounced dead shortly after.

Kathryn says Aberdeen FC fan, Olivia was a “beautiful, happy, funny little girl” who was a season ticket holder to Pittodrie Stadium and loved going to matches with her family.
She says her parents and sisters Nieve, 14, and Hollie, 11, as well as the whole Kingswells community in the city are struggling to come to terms with the loss.
She added: “I don’t know how her parents are functioning right now. Everyone is on autopilot.
“Everyone around here is absolutely gobsmacked. It’s just so hard to comprehend when something like this happens to a child.
“She is going to be so, so missed by everyone that knew her. She has fantastic parents and they are just devastated by this loss.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a child who had taken unwell on Skene Road in Aberdeen around 8.40pm on Saturday, 25 October, 2025.
“She was taken to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
“Her death is being treated as unexplained but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”

Kathryn has set up a fundraisier to help with Olivia’s unexpected funeral costs, adding: “I just wanted to do something to help. It’s the last thing they thought they would need to do, so hopefully this will help take some pressure off.”
