Students at Girton Grammar School in Bendigo are being offered counselling after their classmate was hit by a truck and killed on his way to school this morning.
The 15-year-old was struck at the intersection of High Street and Myrtle Street in Golden Square at 8:35am.
A witness started CPR, before multiple specialist paramedics arrived, but the boy died at the scene.

Victoria Police Senior Sergeant Ian Brooks said emergency services worked tirelessly to try to save the boy.
In a letter sent to parents today, Girton Grammar principal Emma O'Rielly confirmed the boy was a senior student at the school and the news of his death was being delivered to students this morning.
"We are devastated by the loss, and share our condolences with the family and friends of the student, and with the entire Girton community," she said.
Ms O'Rielly said students and staff were being offered counselling and parents were asked to make alternative arrangements for school pick-up today.
"We encourage you, where possible, to collect your children from school at the end of the day, even if they would usually walk or catch the bus."
A truck has been cordoned off by police tape at the scene.
The truck driver, from Bendigo, was not injured and is assisting police.
Bendigo Mayor Andrea Metcalf said the boy's death was a tragic loss.
"Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to the child's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time," she said.
Victoria Police is yet to release the boy's name.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
