Brad Jones Racing provide update on build progress of Toyota GR Supra fleet
BJR to run three Supras for Andre Heimgartner, Cameron Hill, and Macauley Jones
Aerodynamic parts homologated last month yet to be added to BJR fleet
Brad Jones has offered an update on the progress of it's three Toyota GR Supra builds ahead of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship season opener.
Brad Jones Racing were announced as the second Toyota team during the Tasmania Super 440 weekend last May, with the team originally planning to build and run four GR Supras.
However that changed with SCT Motorsport departing to run a Triple Eight-built Mustang for rookie Jackson Walls, with BJR now building up three Toyotas for Andre Heimgartner, Macauley Jones, and new recruit Cameron Hill.
Two new cars are being built for Heimgartner and Hill, the first of which will be Heimgartner's. This car is the closest to completion, with front quarter panels attached to what will be the #8 R&J Batteries Supra.
Parts homologated at the Windshear wind tunnel in America as part of successful aerodynamic parity testing are currently being developed, and will be attached to the cars in the next few weeks.
"This is Andre's car #8, hence why the front of it is painted white, it's coming along nicely," said team owner Jones in an update video posted to BJR socials.
"We haven't quite got it to the stage where it's a roller, but we've got suspension on it, it's got a lot of the stuff sorted out on the inside, the rear hatch.
"A lot of the parts that were approved in the wind tunnel, the skirts, the rear bar, the front, they're being made at the moment, so we won't get those until probably the end of the month at the earliest.
"But the plan is we'll get these cars so that they're sitting on the ground waiting for the engine and the rest of the parts to turn up."
The #96 Supra of Jones will utilise the newest of BJR's existing Gen3 chassis', which was built new for the 2025 season and driven by Heimgartner to 11th in the standings, scoring a podium on the Gold Coast.
"It's had a birthday, been repainted, and is getting reassembled. It's the car that Andre raced last year.
"And then we've got Cam's car up here which is another new chassis, there's a lot of work to be done with this, but as I said we've got a little bit of an assembly line going.
"We'll get the bits and pieces we need hopefully in a week or so to turn them into rollers."
The brand-new cars of Heimgartner and Hill will be eligible for a 60km shakedown at Winton prior to the Pre-Season Test Day in Sydney on Wednesday, February 18.
BJR's Toyotas, alongside the two Supras of homologation team Walkinshaw TWG Racing, will make their competitive debuts at the Sydney 500 from February 20-22.
Tickets for the event, including free entry for the opening race of the 2026 season on Friday, February 20, are on sale now.
