Drivers faced long delays in the rainy weather this afternoon after a car crash in the borough.
At around 2.30pm traffic began to build up on St Peter’s Way while Market Street in Farnworth was closed off.
Long delays faced drivers on the road with traffic backing up all the way to the junction with the M61.

Two black cars appeared to have crashed into each other shutting down a section of the main road outside Trinity Methodist Church.
The crash caused gridlock in the town with the AA reporting long delays on most roads through the centre.
The worst of the traffic seemed to clear on St Peter’s Way by 3.30pm while Market Street remained closed.
