A 23-year-old woman from Cocoa in Brevard County traveling on State Road 415 south of State Road 44 was killed when she went off the road and struck a tree at about 2 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Her passenger, a 21-year-old man from Edgewater, was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in critical condition.
The woman was driving a Ford Fusion north on S.R. 415 when, for “unknown reasons,” she ran off the roadway to the right into a grassy shoulder and continued until she collided with a tree. She was pronounced dead on the scene, according to FHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
