BRISTOL, Va. (WCYB) — Congressman Morgan Griffith recently announced significant federal funding heading to Southwest Virginia.
One of the projects being funded is going to the city of Bristol, Virginia for new police vehicles.
Police Chief Byron Ashbrook says the department has been working with what they have with some officers driving cars more than 15 years old.
“It's a blessing to be fully staffed but along with being fully staffed, you need to have vehicles to go with every officer,” Ashbrook said. “We very much appreciate [Rep. Griffith’s] efforts in representing us and getting us this funding.”
Ashbrook says with this funding the department should be able to purchase between six to eight new cars.
