WENDELL, N.C. (WTVD) — Four people were injured in a school bus crash Monday morning in Wake County.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. in Wendell on Doc Proctor Road near Edgemont Road. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the bus was heading east in heavy fog when it struck a large broken tree limb in the road. This caused the bus to veer off the road and into a ditch.
Three students suffered minor injuries and were picked up by their parents from the scene, while the bus driver was taken to WakeMed with minor injuries.
There were 11 students total on board at the time.
No citations were issued in connection with the crash.
