A car burst into flames on an M62 sliproad today after its engine caught fire. A photograph shared with the Liverpool ECHO shows the car on fire next to the road, with emergency services at the scene at junction seven of the motorway, for Rainhill Stoops.
A Merseyside Police force incident manager told the ECHO it was the result of an engine fire and there were no injuries reported. The incident took place around 12.40pm on Saturday (September 27).
A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told the ECHO: "Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service was called to an incident earlier this afternoon on the M62 east bound.
"Crews were alerted at 12.46pm and two fire engines were on scene shortly after.
"Crews arrived to find one car well alight. One firefighter wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a high pressure hose reel jet.
"Fire crews remained on scene to dampen down the vehicle, before leaving at 1.26pm."
