INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An elementary school on the north side of Indianapolis will open as normal on Monday after a car drove into the front entrance overnight.
Around 2:15 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to Spring Mill Elementary School at 82nd Street and Spring Mill Road.
Officers arrived and found a car crashed through the school’s front door.
IMPD says the driver, an adult female, remained at the scene and was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
The school will open as normal on Monday, but the front entrance will remain closed while repairs are underway, says Ellen Rogers, communications manager for MSD of Washington Township.
“We will continue with a regular school day today, with some adjustments to visitor logistics to ensure safety and smooth operations. When arriving this morning, please follow the directions of our staff, who will assist with traffic flow and safe entry into the building,” Rogers told News 8.
No other information was immediately available.
