Authorities are investigating what caused a car to enter the grounds of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Sydney’s east.
At 8am on Monday (local time), NSW Police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle, a white SUV, parked in the building’s driveway in Fullerton Street, Woollahra.
On arrival, officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attempted to speak to the driver, a 39-year-old man, however he allegedly drove his vehicle into the gates of the property.
The man was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station.
A 24-year-old police officer sustained an injury to his hand and was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Inquiries were ongoing, NSW Police said in a statement.
