A CAR fire has blocked a major Essex road causing queues of traffic and disruption to drivers this morning.
The car is currently blocking the A12 northbound, just outside Chelmsford, from Junction 18 to Junction 19.
Initially reported as an accident, Essex County Council’s traffic control centre has now confirmed the cause of the disruption to be a vehicle fire.

An update from the AA: “Road blocked and queueing traffic due to vehicle fire on A12 Northbound from J18 A1060 (Danbury) to J19 A131 (Boreham Interchange).
“The other side is also partially blocked. Confirmed to be a fire, not an accident as initially reported.”
Traffic is queuing on the A12 in both directions from the site of the vehicle fire.
