AA Traffic News at https://www.theaa.com/route-planner/traffic-news said the road is closed.
The message said: “Road closed and queueing traffic due to vehicle fire on the A259 both ways from the car dealership to B2144 Drayton Lane.”
The incident was first reported at 3.56pm.

A West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said at5.30pm: “We were called at 3.17pm to reports of an ambulance involved in fire at the A259 Chichester Road roundabout in North Bersted. Joint Fire Control mobilised one fire engine to the scene. Upon arrival firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire. Drivers are urged to avoid the area for the time being.”
