Fortunately, crews quickly gained the upper hand and kept the fire contained.
Woodside Fire Protection District’s Deputy Chief, Eric Zabala, explained that just before 5 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters got a report of an overheated vehicle that had caught on fire on northbound 280.

Zabala said the flames leapt onto surrounding brush, spreading from one side of the freeway to another.
280 was shut down for hours in both directions while firefighters worked.
Fire crews worked fighting this fire on what proved to be another hot and dry day in the Bay Area.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office posted that ten residents were initially evacuated as a precaution. No structures were burned
