A road was closed to traffic this afternoon after a crash resulted in a car flipping onto its side. Emergency services were called to Eastbank Street, in Southport, at around 2.20pm today, Friday, August 29, to reports of a two-car crash.
Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service all attended the scene. There were no major injuries sustained in the crash which involved a Vauxhall Corsa and a Ford Kuga.
Pictures taken at the scene show extensive damage has been done to the one of the cars, which is on its side, its rear window completely smashed.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix warned motorists of the road closure: "A570 Eastbank Street in both directions partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident between St James Street (Shakespeare roundabout) and Wesley Street."
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) said they attended an incident on Eastbank Street, Southport on the afternoon of Friday 29th August.
"Crews were alerted at 14.21 and on scene at 14.27 with two fire engines and the search and rescue team attending.
"This was a two vehicle road traffic collision, with one vehicle on its side and the second vehicle involved on all four wheels. MFRS firefighters stabilised vehicle one and liaised with North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to safely remove one casualty from the vehicle into the care of paramedics.
"One occupant from vehicle two was out of their car prior to Fire Service attendance.
"A third vehicle, a stationary parked car with no occupants, was also involved. Crews made up their equipment and handed over to Merseyside Police, before leaving the scene at 14.55."
