Casio and Honda team up for the ECB-2300HR-1A, a tribute watch blending vintage F1 design with modern tech and limited availability
Honda is preparing to return as an engine supplier in Formula 1 for the 2026 season through its partnership with Aston Martin, but its latest collaboration with Casio is firmly focused on the past.
The new Casio Edifice ECB-2300HR-1A is not about future regulations or modern race tech. Instead, it marks a pivotal moment in Honda’s racing story, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the brand’s first Formula 1 victory.

That breakthrough came at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix, where Richie Ginther drove the Honda RA272 to victory, making history as the first Japanese car and engine to win at the sport’s top level.
A Nod to 1965
The watch reflects that achievement through its use of Championship White, the same color applied to Honda’s victory cars of the era. A red ring circles the dial as a reference to the RA272’s nose, while the subdial at the 9 o’clock position echoes the look of period-correct analog tachometers.
Nearly every visible element pulls directly from Honda’s racing past. The ceramic bezel is finished in Championship White, and a gold-accented “60” sits at the top of the scale to mark the anniversary.
The special touches continue across the back of the watch case, where there’s laser engraving with Honda’s logo. Casio has also added a particularly striking strap for the ECB-2300CR, with the outside in white leather and a small area of text with details about the RA272, including its 1.5-liter V12 with 230 hp. This engine revved to 12,000 rpm and weighed just 215 kg (474 lbs).
And that’s not all. The strap buckle is finished in gold and engraved with the number ‘11’, the race-winning car’s number, alongside the phrase “Veni, Vidi, Vici.” Inside, the strap is lined with soft-touch red suede, patterned with an intricate design based on original technical drawings of Honda’s compact V12 engine.
Beyond its historical references, the ECB-2300HR-1A offers a full suite of modern functionality. It uses Casio’s Tough Solar charging system and pairs via Bluetooth with a smartphone app for adjusting settings.
The feature list includes world time, a multi-function stopwatch, countdown timer, perpetual calendar, multiple alarms, and Super Illuminator LED lighting. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating covers the dial, while carbon-and-steel suspension-style lugs add a subtle motorsport-inspired structural detail.
Availability and Pricing
Unlike many automotive-themed watches, this one isn’t obscenely expensive. Already launched in Japan, it carries a price of 66,000 yen, which works out to roughly $423. North American availability and pricing haven’t been announced yet, but a few JDM examples have already surfaced on eBay, for a far less reasonable $1,100.
