Known for ultra-lightweight sports cars with classic driving joy and track-ready character, Caterham has a celebrated heritage in the automotive industry, especially among British manufacturers. Today, Caterham has a new chapter on the horizon, with a prototype of a new electric performance car called the “Project V” being showcased. The first working prototype of Project V is set to be on display at next year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, which will kick off on January 9, 2026, in the heart of Japan’s capital.
After its display at the Tokyo Auto Salon, Project V is set to continue a testing program through 2026 that is already underway, including testing its innovative CTP battery system that uses a unique approach to the universal BEV challenge of thermal management, as well as testing the chassis and the Yamaha Motor e-axle. Along with its appearance in Tokyo, the show car version of the Project V is set to be on display at the 2026 CES in Las Vegas, making its United States debut on January 6, 2026.
With full-scale production in the pipeline for the all-electric sports car, the display of a new working prototype of the Caterham Project V is a new milestone in the journey towards reimagining the cherished legacy of lightweight, track-ready British sports cars that Caterham is known and celebrated for creating.
