The Chattanooga Police Department has announced a new patrol vehicle pattern designed by one of its officers.
Several units with the new design, which is intended to be more modern and sleek, are already on the road, the department said in a New Year’s Day Facebook introducing the new pattern. The new pattern drops the white striped doors for an all-black aesthetic, with grey lettering and a tri-star design, like the Tennessee state flag.
The new design’s creator, Officer Kevin Orsburn, will explain more about the design process in a video expected to be released soon, police said. He was presented with an Officer of the Year award in 2021, and investigated Chattanooga tow company operator Benjamin Wade Elliott Duvall, who was arrested in December and accused of 28 auto-crime related charges.
